Favicon Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. The file never reaches our server, which is why there is no upload progress bar and why it keeps working if you go offline.
Which size should I use?
Use favicon.ico in the site root for maximum compatibility, then add the PNG set for modern browsers and mobile. Sizes that are multiples of 48 px (48, 96, 144, 192) are crawled most reliably by Google, Bing and Baidu.
Why does my favicon not update after I upload it?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Hard-refresh the page, or open the icon URL directly and refresh that. Clearing the browser cache always works.
Can I use a non-square logo?
Yes, but favicons are rendered square. Choose “Crop to fill” to trim the long edge, or “Fit inside” with a little padding and a background colour to letterbox it.
